French Terry sweatshirts

French Terry sweatshirts are not outwardly differentiated from traditional fleece sweatshirts. The difference is on the inside. 😉

You will not find the silky touch inside the French Terry sweats. The fabric is actually the same, it only change how it is processed!

French terry is a knit fabric with loops and soft piles of yarn. It’s a non-brushed fleece. So the touch is heavier than a tee, but lighter than most of the sweats.

A little curiosity: the exceed fabric result from the knitting process it’s used to make the non-woven fabric.

Some manufacturers choose to make French Terry sweatshirts for personalise with less weight than classic sweats, so they are absolutely perfect for spring or autumn.

There a few advantages to have in mind to choose printed french terry sweats: they’re perfect for practising sports because the loops absorb water on the inside but the outside remains dry. Cool and stylish sportswear!

Also, it’s super comfortable to wear cause the yarn is so soft! You can see the difference in the image below.

Standard fleece vs French terry fleece:

You can take a look at out online sweatshirts catalogue and you will find a few French Terry sweats for personalising:

Print French Terry sweats is very popular among designers, clothing brands and bands, mostly because they’re comfortable and you don’t have to worry about the awful small thread balls.

We use to recommend screen-printing to customise French Terry sweats, as we do in classic sweatshirts, cause the outside fabric is the same.

How to send us designs for Full Print orders

When it comes down to confirming, many people have doubts about how to send us designs for Full Print orders, which is perfectly understandable because the technique is totally different from traditional screen-printing or DTG digital printing and the preparation of the artwork also varies greatly from other methods.

Full Print personalisation implies printing your design on to the full surface of the T-shirt, including the sleeves, therefore it is best NOT to send your designs in a vertical format:

Full print customised t-shirts

We strongly recommend sending us your design in horizontal format to avoid leaving any large white spaces:

All-over printed t-shirts

In order to get the best result possible for your Full Print customised t-shirts, the following are the requirements for sending us your design:

  • In vector format with all fonts traced: PDF, Illustrator, EPS.
  • Or in actual print size with a high resolution of 300dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.
  • Always in CMYK colour scheme.
  • Format: 95cm wide (38″) x 85cm tall (34″).

Despite these measurements, it’s also imperative to consider the main area for printing. That is to say, there is one part of the overall design which is where you must put the most important aspects of the design:

How to send designs for full print

  • Foto: Artwork dimensions
    38″x34″ (95x85cm)
  • Main area for printing important elements:
    14″x20″ (35x50cm)

Digital printing T-shirts

In our workshop we offer a lot of printing techniques for any kind of design. Here are some great examples of digital printing T-shirts.

Digital printing t-shirts
Personalised t-shirts for bands

DTG printing is a high quality technique that allow us to print designs with no colour limits, so if your want to print a picture or logo with shading on your personalised tees, digital printing is the best choice. High definition results at an affordable price!

Screen-printing is still the best option for simple logos, but digital printing allow us to reproduce designs with shading, minute details and different tones, as you can see:

DTG personalised tees
Digital printing

So, what do you have to bear in mind when it comes to printing t-shirts with DTG?

  • Minimum amount is 10 t-shirts.
  • We recommend choosing medium-high quality t-shirts.
  • We can’t print on the sleeves.
  • Shipping time depends on the amount of t-shirts as well as the model.

Personalised tees dtg

A lot of designers and music bands ask us for their customised tees in DTG: the printing is practically indistinguishable to the touch, so the T-shirts remain really soft.

Take a look at the amazing T-shirts we did for the Catalan rock band Masclans:

Personalised Full Print Neckwarmers

Neckwarmers are a fantastic advertising gimmick and they are so many ways to personalise them! This week we thought we’d show you one of our more recent favourite methods: Personalised Full Print Neckwarmers which have so many uses and can even be a great fashion accessory!

The french management assessment company BCS Certification chose to create these customised neckwarmers with Full-Printing as a publicity product to give away to their clients – easy advertising for their company everytime they wear it!

In general, neckwarmers are a brilliant choice for publicity or business giveaways because they can be worn in so many ways: as a hat, a scarf, headband or wristband. So many possibilities!

As you’ve seen in our various Full Print clothing and accessories in the past, this technique is only used on white, polyester garments so we use a neckwarmer which correctly fits these requirements.

When it comes to printing your design, there are two possibilities explained visually in the following photos.

Option A (recommended): We leave a small margin of a few centimetres between the printing and the edge of the neckwarmer. This way the logos remain intact but there is no continuity from one side to the other.

Full print clothing

Option B: We print the logos all over the neckwarmer’s surface without leaving any margins. The logos may be cut off at the edge of the neckwarmer, as we cannot ensure continuity due to the technicalities involved in the printing method.

Full print printing

We’d also like to bring your attention to another factor to be considered when creating customised face mask: the colour for a Full Print neckwarmer will never be the same nor as vivid as the classic coloured polyester neckwarmer due to the heating process involved when printing. Remember that we are obligated to use white polyester neckwarmers in order for them to be tinted using sublimation printing.

Personalised neckwarmers

If you’re not entirely convinced by Full Print for your personalised neckwarmers we strongly recommend taking a look at screen-printing or embroidery which both give great results.

We advise taking a look at our online neckwarmer catalogue where you can find all the models we offer:

  • Fleece neckwarmer
  • Polyester neckwarmers
  • and Cotton and Lycra neckwarmers.

Customised screen-printed shirts

For their smart personalised work shirts, this client opted for the Sols Brooklyn shirt due to the high quality and it’s various features which make it an ideal choice for uniforms:

  • Classic 2-button collar
  • Left-hand-side chest pocket
  • Tone on tone 7 button placket
  • Soft touch

This client chose white shirts to screen-print with their logo in 2 colours but cleverly incorporating the colour of the shirt in the design so it gives the appearance of 3-colour screen-printing. As is common with many companies and businesses from all over, they chose to print their logo on the left-hand-side chest pocket and as you can see from these photos, the result is simple yet elegant.

Note: The maximum printing size on the front pocket is 9cm in length.

35 years for Phoenix Teefactory

This week we were very happy to celebrate 35 years for Phoenix Teefactory, the company behind tshirts-uk.com and various international webs. We’ve been dominating the textile personalisation sector within Europe since 1981!

All the staff were delighted to meet up in our textile personalisation workshop, to spend the morning learning about the various techniques and methods our team uses. We always take advantage of any opportunities to improve and grow as a company, asking our collegues questions and explaining how we work, getting to know one-another and generally getting the gist of how your personalised clothing orders are created step by step. Which is exactly what this day allowed us to do! 😉

So, throughout the morning, our sales team, graphic designers, IT guys, social media and content gals, accountants and general admin team were asking our collegues in the workshop questions and explaining how we work, getting to know one-another and generally getting the gist of how your personalised clothing orders are created step by step. 😉

Textile personalisation workshop

We learnt about each step of the process with the experts themselves:

As it’s our star technique we began with screen-printing: learning the tricks of the trade from Phoenix’s experts: how each screen and film is fitted together, which screens are used for which types of designs and garments, how every small detail is crucial when mounting the designs on the screens to avoid mistakes when printing and the cleaning and recycling process.

Screen-printing workshop

Step 2 in the process took us to our expert in textile inks who gave us a master class on colours, qualities, mixes and Pantone. The reality of the matter is that our team was able to see how much of a real traditional, artisanal process screen-printing remains to this day, despite the help of new technology in some areas.

Textiles inks

The most impressive area of the workshop is undoubtedly our screen-printing “octopus” machines, duly named for the 8 arms of the beast which allows our collegues to work rapidly whilst maintaining high quality standards and allows us to offer you a quick turnaround time for your custom T-shirts.

We were also fortunate enough to see the new Kornit Avalanche machine up and running: the very latest in Direct To Garment digital printing. Not to mention seeing in action our collegues creating fantastic personalised garments using the other techniques we offer: sublimation, digital transfer, CAD-cut vinyl etc.

Digital printing
Full print

Lastly but certainly not least, we learnt about the importance of a well-stocked, well-organised warehouse by our resident Phoenix professional, Alex, who taught us how your custom clothing orders get processed once we’ve sent them through to our factory, from receiving the merchandise to the organisation and finally the handing-off to the delivery companies. It’s crucial that the running of the warehouse is managed smoothly in order to allow for fast and quality work.

Custom t-shirts

And finally, after our training, it was time for a break to give our bosses, the founders of Phoenix Teefactory: Ángel Fernandez and Baltasar Collado, a little, well-earned surprise: personalised T-shirts for each as a momentum of their successful 35 years in the business, conmemorative printed mugs and the icing on the cake, or in this case cookies, personalised T-shirt-shaped biscuits with the names of all the team.

Personalised t-shirt shaped biscuits

So, all in all, it was a great day spent getting to know one another better, team building, improving our work ethic and of course celebrating! Just taking a look at the photos you can see how much our team enjoyed the day and just how much we all like to pose! 😛
