Cad-cut vinyl

Vinyl is a plastic material in the shape of a thermo-adhesive laminate sheet that is made differently according to what one wants to achieve. In textile printing we distinguish between two different types, basically the cut type and the print and cut type.

The Cut type

This is the simplest type of CAD-CUT vinyl printing. There are 3 steps to this type: First a computer prints the design which is then cut out by a cutting plotter and finally ironed onto the piece of clothing. We have a large variety of colours including metallic effects and flourescent colours, etc.

Why choose the Cut type printing?

This type is highly recommended for simple logos or designs with just one colour such as texts or putting a name or number on T-shirts, therefore it’s perfect for sports teams.

It is very wash-resistant.

This technique is a quick method which allows for small orders from just 1 item.

Disadvantages

When using the simple cutting technique, the outline of the printing if often quite obvious meaning easy to see, especially on colour T-shirts. We recommend using this type for rectangular designs or on white T-shirts.

This type only allows for 1-colour printing.

The effect can be quite obvious and have a plastic feel to the touch.

It is not a breathable printing method.

It does not allow for printing photographs or images with shading.

The Print and Cut type

There are also 3 steps to this type however the first step varies slightly: The design is printed by a printing plotter then it is cut by a separate cutting plotter to finally be ironed onto the clothing. There are 2 price tariffs for this type:

  • Simple Cutting: The cheapest method.
This is a rectagular cut without following the image outline. Quite visible on coloured T-shirts, less so on black or white items.
  • Detailed Cutting:
The machine cuts around the detail of the image.

Why choose the Print and Cut type?

There are no colour limitations for this type of printing and it allows for photos and shaded pictures. If your design contains many colours, it’s usually cheaper than screen-printing.

We can generally print this method on all types of clothing.

From just 1 item with short delivery times.

It is one of the most frequently used methods of personalisation for hen and stag dos, publicity agencies, advertising etc.

And on top of it all, it has a high resistance in the wash.
